About Public Holidays in Zambia
Zambia's holidays reflect its Christian heritage, its peaceful history and its powerful cultural traditions. Independence Day on October 24, the day the country was renamed from Northern Rhodesia in 1964, is the great national celebration, and the country observes Christmas, Easter, Good Friday and the New Year.
