About Public Holidays in Tuvalu
Tuvalu, one of the world's smallest and most remote nations, celebrates a holiday year centred on its Christian faith and island identity. Independence Day on October 1, marking the 1978 separation from Britain, is celebrated with traditional dance, games and church services across the atolls. The country observes Christmas, Easter and the New Year, and its national Te Namo festival celebrates the lagoon and the traditional fishing and sailing that sustain island life.
In 2028, Tuvalu observes 13 public holidays including 13 national, of which 3 fall on a weekend.
