About Public Holidays in السعودية
Saudi Arabia's holidays are profoundly shaped by Islam, as the country is the birthplace of the faith and home to its two holiest cities. Eid al-Fitr follows Ramadan, and Eid al-Adha coincides with the Hajj pilgrimage, both observed with days of prayer, feasting and charity. The Saudi National Day on September 23 commemorates the 1932 unification of the kingdom and is celebrated with fireworks and green-decked streets. The country observes the Islamic New Year, the Prophet's birthday and the Foundation Day on February 22, a recently established holiday.
In 2024, Saudi Arabia observes 12 public holidays including 12 national, of which 3 fall on a weekend.
