About Public Holidays in Palau
Palau, a Pacific archipelago famous for its marine conservation, celebrates a holiday calendar rooted in its constitutional government and cultural heritage. Constitution Day on July 9 marks the 1981 founding, and Independence Day on October 1 commemorates the 1994 Compact of Free Association, celebrated with canoe races and traditional dances. The country observes Christmas, New Year and Labour Day, while the traditional bai meeting houses host the ceremonies of each village's cultural year.
In 2028, Palau observes 13 public holidays including 13 national, of which 3 fall on a weekend.
