About Public Holidays in Perú
Peru's holidays blend Catholic devotion with Andean traditions that reach back to the Incas. Independence Day on July 28-29 is the national centrepiece, while the Feast of the Lord of the Miracles in October and Inti Raymi, the Inca sun festival in Cusco, show the country's dual heritage. Easter week, especially in Ayacucho, is among the most elaborate in South America, and the Day of the Dead in November is marked with family visits to cemeteries.
