About Public Holidays in المغرب
Morocco's holidays blend Islamic faith, Amazigh heritage and the traditions of the royal Alaouite dynasty. The two Eids, the Islamic New Year and the Prophet's birthday follow the lunar calendar, while the Throne Day on July 30 honours the king, the Independence Day on November 18 the 1955 return of the sultan and the Green March on November 6 the 1975 recovery of the Western Sahara. The Amazigh New Year (Yennayer) in January is now officially observed, and the country's famous moussem festivals of the saints fill the year with pilgrimage and celebration.
In 2028, Morocco observes 17 public holidays including 17 national, of which 7 fall on a weekend.
