About Public Holidays in Lietuva
Lithuania's holidays reflect a deep Catholic tradition and the memory of independence struggles. February 16 marks the 1918 Act of Independence and March 11 the 1990 restoration, two days of national pride, while the Day of State on July 6 honours the coronation of King Mindaugas. Christmas and Easter keep the traditional straw-ornament decorations and painted eggs, and All Saints' Day fills cemeteries with candlelight. The Joninฤs midsummer festival in June, with bonfires and wreaths, preserves an ancient Baltic tradition.
In May 2028 there are 2 public holidays: Labour Day, Mother's Day. In 2028, Lithuania observes 16 public holidays including 16 national, of which 7 fall on a weekend.
