About Public Holidays in Eesti
Estonia's holidays combine Lutheran tradition, Baltic folk customs and a strong sense of regained independence. Independence Day on February 24 marks the 1918 declaration and is celebrated with concerts and the national flag ceremony, while Victory Day on June 23 honours the 1919 battle and is followed by the midsummer Jaanipäev festival of bonfires. Christmas Eve and Christmas are the family centrepiece of the year, with the sauna tradition on Christmas Eve, and the spring 'Võidupüha' celebrations carry a deep national resonance.
In August 2024 there is 1 public holiday: Restoration of Independence Day. In 2024, Estonia observes 12 public holidays including 12 national, of which 4 fall on a weekend.
