About Public Holidays in Schweiz
Switzerland's holidays are decided at the cantonal level, so the calendar varies from region to region. August 1, Swiss National Day, commemorates the 1291 founding pact and is the only federal public holiday, observed with bonfires and lantern processions. Catholic cantons add Corpus Christi, Assumption and All Saints' Day, while Protestant regions keep Good Friday and the Berchtold's Day on January 2. Easter, Whitsun and Christmas are universally observed, and each canton's patron-saint festivals add local colour.
In December 2028 there is 1 public holiday: Christmas Day. In 2028, Switzerland observes 4 public holidays including 4 national, of which 1 falls on a weekend.
