About Public Holidays in България
Bulgaria's holidays mix Orthodox feasts, national memory and a rich calendar of folk customs. National days mark the liberation from Ottoman rule on March 3 and the unification of 1885 on September 6, while the Cyrillic alphabet is honoured on May 24, the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture. Easter and Christmas follow the Orthodox calendar, and Saint George's Day in May doubles as the Day of the Bulgarian Army and a feast of the country's patron. The winter Saint Nicholas Day and the spring Baba Marta traditions add distinctive colour.
In 2028, Bulgaria observes 14 public holidays including 14 national, of which 5 fall on a weekend.
