About Public Holidays in België
Belgium's holidays reflect a country where French, Dutch and German communities coexist under a strongly Catholic calendar. National Day on July 21 commemorates the 1831 oath of the first king, and the Flemish and Walloon communities each celebrate their own day. Catholic feasts — Easter Monday, Ascension, Whit Monday, Assumption and All Saints' Day — are all public holidays, and Christmas is the year's anchor. Belgian holidays also support the country's famous culture of festivals, beer and street fairs in every season.
In 2028, Belgium observes 12 public holidays including 12 national, of which 4 fall on a weekend.
