About Public Holidays in الإمارات
The United Arab Emirates celebrates a holiday calendar shaped by Islam and the rapid growth of a modern federation. The two Eids and the Islamic New Year anchor the religious year, while the National Day on December 2 commemorates the 1971 union of the seven emirates with fireworks, parades and heritage shows. Commemoration Day in late November honours the country's fallen heroes. The country also observes the Prophet's birthday and, since 2020, the anniversary of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign — a uniquely modern addition to the calendar.
